Welcome! My name is Hyungwook Yim, and I am a computational cognitive scientist in the Department of Cognitive Sciences (housed in the School of Data Science) at Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea. As a cognitive scientist, my interests lie in the realm of seeking 'the origins of knowledge', which questions how knowledge is initially acquired, and becomes organized and generalized beyond what has been acquired. Especially, I try to specify the mechanisms that enable us to learn and acquire knowledge (or in other words, how knowledge emerges from these basic mechanisms), and how these learning mechanisms change over time through experience and development. Methodologically, I have been examining human (infants, children, and adults) behavior using various methods such as eyetracking, electroencephalography (EEG), and experience sampling, and by building computational models that better explain these behavioral patterns.
